YoruFukurou, the Twitter client you may want to check out!
Thu, 11/10/2011 - 12:00 — VictorUpdated with some new information from Kevin Chao. See below. Thanks, Kevin!
Ever since I switched to using Mac OS as my primary computing environment, I've been looking for an easy-to-use and rich-featured Twitter client. Having used the famous Qwitter on Windows, I naturally wanted the same richness in features, screen reader accessibility as well as multiple account support.
I originally tried Syrinx and liked it for a while, albeit with fewer features compared to Qwitter, but as the development on this application has come to a hault, I had to restart my search and seek for a an alternative.
Then I Found Nambu, a Twitter client which was both compatible with VoiceOver screen reader and had a ton of features to play with. this relationship did not last for too long either as one day the Nambu web site stopped responding and I could not get any updates to the application. It seemed as though the development on this client has ceased altogether.
This is when YoruFukurou Twitter client app came into my life. With its tabbed interface, filters, context-sensitive menus, multiple account support, compatibility with VoiceOver and much much more, it offered the flexibility I badly needed.
So, for those of you who would like to hear a little bit more about YoruFukurou and how I use it on the Mac, I've prepared a rpodcast that guides you through the interface of this application and goes through its basic features to get you started.
Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this audio podcast about the YoruFukurou Twitter client.
Once you have gone through some initial exploration of the interface, you may want to take note of some of the many useful shortcut keys available in this app (thanks to @KevinChao89 for pointing these out):
- CMD-OPTION-Apostrophe to focus on a „Drawer“,
- CMD-K to focus on „Tweets“ table,
- CMD-U to go to username under the cursor,
- CMD-F to search within a given tab,
- (For VoiceOver users): VO-F2 report current tab.
- And so many more…
What Twitter client are you using? If YoruFukurou is your choice likewise, what do you like/not like about it? Leave your comments below!
